Beach Family Session
Oceanview, Norfolk, Virginia
Since my husband and I moved to coastal Virginia, our families have loved visiting us here. I’d like to think it's only because of their unconditional love for us, but let’s be real, being this close to the beach is a huge perk for our families in land-locked East Tennessee.
My mother-in-law particularly enjoys the beach and she is always looking for fun events and outings for our family. Whether it's finding the best oysters and cocktails in town, or a distillery tour and tasting at The Cavalier, Martina finds new ways for us to go out and experience new things together.
Before their most recent trip, Martina gave me a call to see if Ashley was available the weekend of their visit to do a family photoshoot. After some brainstorming and checking calendars, we had a plan in place and I promptly issued Ashley a warning that a photoshoot with all of us together can be a handful and then some!
Of course, Ashley wasn’t worried and was excited to finally meet all of Daniel’s family. Because of the weather we had to reschedule the original date we picked, but we made another weeknight work and I’m so glad that we did because the sunset that night was more than perfect!
Posing comes naturally to Ashley and with so many of us in one shot, I was thankful that she had a vision in mind for each location we came upon.
No family photoshoot is complete without a few goofy shots, and of course, all the various combinations of family members. My favorites were hands-down the brothers–they are a force to be reckoned with when they’re together!
I was grateful that Martina suggested this photoshoot because these are the best photos that we have of our family, and we had a blast doing it! It’s so easy for photo-taking to be awkward–where to stand, what facial expression, how long do I have to hold this smile on my face–but that was not our experience together at all.
The time flew by and we genuinely had fun together while Ashley captured the moments as they happened. Sure, we set up some poses along the way, but the majority of the time we were just chatting and joking while Ashley did her thing.
The biggest win though is that I will have the perfect Christmas presents for everyone this year! Since A&O Studios already offers professional printing services, designing and printing an album with ease is a great benefit of being a co-owner!
