Aster & Bee Styled Sessions
Since I first met Jess, I knew that she was a creative person and quickly learned that she loves florals. When Jess told me she started her floral design business, Aster & Bee Floral Design, I immediately knew that she would be successful because of her drive and unique style. When Ashley & I decided to launch A&O Studios, I couldn’t wait for the opportunity to work with Aster & Bee, and Jess was our first professional collaboration.
We had brainstormed ideas for styled shoots previously, but now that we were both serious about our businesses, we wanted to go about this session the right way.
Jess was working on her website and needed photos of herself that represented the Aster & Bee brand. We decided to make a whole weekend out of it and do a styled shoot for a bridal bouquet as well. With Jess making the investment to wholesale order flowers, we wanted to get as many diverse shots as possible to showcase her designs. One afternoon, I went to Jess’s house and we did the branding session, half in-action and half portrait-style. We had a blast playing music and getting creative exploring poses. Jess just has this energy about her and it really showed on camera.
We got so many great shots, it was difficult narrowing the images down to a manageable sized album! I can’t wait to see how Jess chooses to utilize these images for Aster & Bee and hope they serve her well!
The next day, Ashley and I met Jess and her husband on location for the styled bridal shoot. Jess worked incredibly hard to put together a dreamy, whimsical bouquet, despite some challenges she faced with diseased flowers from the wholesaler. I understand so much more now about what goes into caring for flowers and creating arrangements, and I commend Jess for her determination and skill because she created an elegantly designed bouquet for this shoot. Our vision was moody and intimate, and we wanted to showcase the romance and movement of Jess's design, which worked perfectly for the deserted beach location we chose.
As lead photographer, Ashley got to work discussing poses and giving direction to Jess and her husband. They are both beautiful people and honestly made the perfect models for this shoot even though the focus was centered on the Aster & Bee design. At first, we were a little concerned about the direct sunlight, but as the evening went on we got that golden hour look we were aiming for!
I so appreciate that Aster & Bee and A&O Studios were able to collaborate together for these two sessions: first of all, we had an amazing time working and being creative together, and secondly, we captured some great photos that will serve both of our brands very well now and in the future.
